Laurie Lausi is one of two full time choral directors at Cherry Hill High School East. She directs the top auditioned ensemble East Singers, the beginning ensemble Vocal Workshop, and co-directs the intermediate ensemble Concert Choir.  She also directs two extracurricular groups The Belles of East and Voce.  In past years, she has served as Vocal Director for the East Spring musicals and the faculty musicals. Ms. Lausi is a cum laude graduate of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX where she studied conducting with Dr. Lloyd Hawthorne. She earned her Master of Music Education at Westminster Choir College in Princeton. Previous to her years at East, Ms. Lausi taught at Covington Middle School in Austin, TX, Purple Sage Elementary in Round Rock, TX and Lincoln and Ravinia Schools in Highland Park, IL. She has served on the board of the New Jersey American Choral Directors Association (NJ-ACDA) as Senior High R&S Chair, President and Past President. 

 

Her guest conducting experiences include the Delaware Junior High All-State Chorus, the Maryland Junior High All-State Chorus, and the 2007 and 2025 Senior High All-South Jersey Choruses. Ms. Lausi made her Carnegie Hall conducting debut in 1997 with East Singers. Her choirs perform all over the tri-state area and earn consistent ratings of Superior in their competitions. In 2016, Ms. Lausi’s extra curricular groups were invited to perform for the Obama family’s last holiday party for their hundreds of staff and their families. They have also performed as the opening act for the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes Christmas Spectacular! Other highlights of Ms. Lausi’s choir experience include performing with Eric Whitacre, Chanticleer, and John Rutter.
